Agreeing to these terms
These terms cover your use of the El Cerrito Concrete website and any estimate, quote or job you arrange with us. By using this site, calling us or booking work, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site, and talk to us before any work starts.
A written estimate or contract for your job may add terms of its own. Where it differs from this page, the written agreement for your job controls that job.
What we do
El Cerrito Concrete is a concrete contractor in El Cerrito, CA. We build driveways, patios, sidewalks, steps, garage floors, pool decks, retaining walls, footings and foundations, and we do stamped and decorative concrete, foundation raising and concrete cutting. You can see the full list on our home page and read more about the business on our About page.
What we describe on this site is general. The work for your property is set out in the estimate or contract for your job, because every slab, yard and slope is different.
Estimates and pricing
Estimates are free, in person and carry no obligation. An estimate is our best price for the work we can see and measure at the visit, and it stays good for the period written on it.
Some things only show up once the old concrete is out and the ground is open, such as soft or wet soil, buried roots, old footings or debris under the slab. If we find something that changes the work or the price, we stop and talk to you first, and we don't go ahead with extra work until you approve it.
Changes you ask for after the estimate, like a bigger area, a different finish or added steel, may change the price and the schedule. We'll tell you how before we make them.
Scheduling, weather and cancellation
We give you a start date when you book, and we work hard to keep it. Concrete depends on the weather, so rain, high heat or a supplier delay can move a pour, and we'll let you know as soon as we know.
New concrete needs time to cure, the wait while it hardens and gains strength, before you walk or drive on it. We'll tell you how long to keep off your slab, and damage from using it early isn't covered by our workmanship guarantee.
If you need to reschedule or cancel, please call us at (510) 973-2452 as early as you can. If we've already ordered material or done work on your job, we may charge for those costs, as your written agreement explains.
Payment
Your estimate or contract sets out how much is due, when it's due and how you can pay. Payment for completed work is due when the agreement says it is.
If a payment is late, we may pause work until it's settled. Unpaid balances may carry the fees or collection costs your written agreement allows and that California law permits.
Your part of the job
We need clear access to the work area, a way in for our trucks and equipment, and water at the site if the job calls for it. Please tell us about sprinkler lines, drain pipes, septic parts or anything else buried where we'll be digging, because we can't see what isn't marked.
You're responsible for knowing where your property lines are and for any approval your HOA needs. Permit questions depend on the job and the city, and we'll talk through yours at the estimate.
Our workmanship and what we don't promise
We're fully licensed and insured, and we stand behind our work. If something we built isn't right, call us and we'll come back to look at it and make it right.
Concrete is a natural material, and some things come with it. Fine hairline cracks, small color differences between pours, and changes caused by soil movement, tree roots, standing water, de-icing salts or heavy loads the slab wasn't built for are not defects in our work. We cut control joints, planned grooves that give the slab a place to crack in a straight line, so most cracking stays where it's meant to go.
Apart from what we put in writing for your job, we make no other promises about our work or this website, spoken or implied, to the extent California law allows.
Limits on our liability
Our responsibility for any job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job, to the extent the law allows. We're not liable for indirect losses, such as lost use of your driveway or patio, lost income or lost time.
We aren't responsible for damage to buried lines or items that weren't marked or disclosed to us, or for problems caused by work someone else did before or after us. Nothing on this page limits any right you have that California law says can't be waived.
Using this website
The information on this site is for general guidance. It isn't engineering advice and it isn't a quote for your property, so please don't rely on it in place of an estimate.
The text, photos and design on this site belong to El Cerrito Concrete. You're welcome to read and share links to our pages, but please don't copy them for commercial use without asking us first.
Settling a disagreement
If you're unhappy with anything, call us first, because most problems get fixed fastest when we come out and look at them together. If we can't settle it that way, we both agree to try mediation in good faith before going to court.
Any claim that isn't settled by talking or mediation will be heard in the courts of Contra Costa County, California, unless the law requires a different place.
Which state's law applies
These terms and any job we do for you are governed by the laws of the State of California.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, and the version on this page is the one in effect. Changes don't affect a job already covered by a signed estimate or contract unless you agree to them.
Questions about these terms
